I LOVE NU METAL. Nu metal is the genre that got me into heavier music, and it still has a special place in my heart. I just love everything about it, the music, the stye, the culture, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. Here I will talk about my favortie bands, albums and songs from this wonderful genre.

MY FAV BANDS

SLIPKNOT

Slipknot has become one of my alll time favortie bands and I think their self titled record and Iowa are two of the greatest nu metal records out there. I also really like their appearnce and masks. I think it is really cool how they have different masks and jumpsuits with every album they do and it for sure makes them stand out from everyone else.

KORN

I LOVE KORN. They have sooo many good records and they just keep them coming. The first time I heard JD scatting on a track my brain was confused at what I was hearing but for some reason I liked it. I love Korn's riffs and they are part of the reason I decided to get myself a 7 string (them and deathcore were the reason basically lol). Another reason I love them is how raw and emotional their music is. Also Got the Life is one of the greatest sings ever made in the history of ever.

SNOT

Snot is one of the first nu metal bands I fell in love with. I became a HUGE fan of them after I heard their record Get Some and I played it every morning on my way to school for like 3 months straight in high school. Unfortunatley Snot's legacy would be cut short after the death of their lead singer Lynn Strait. After his death they made a record called Strait Up which had different nu metal vocalists, like Corey, JD, and Serj feature with the band in place of Lynn. Starit Up does have one song with Lynn's vocals that they recorded before he passed and it is one of my favorites, titled Absent. All in all, this band is great and it is unfortunate what happened. RIP Lynn and Dobbs.

LINKIN PARK

Linkin Park is definitly the most popular nu metal band as they became superstars world wide. Hybrid Theory and Meteora are 2 of the best nu metal albums ever, and I think Hybrid Theory is THE nu metal album. If someone was getting into nu metal and never heard it before, I would for sure show them Hybrid Theory. Their music is emotional and heavy, but also very poppy at times. LP has a legacy that can never be touched. RIP Chester.

P.O.D.

POD has so many bangers. One thing I like about them is their positive attitude that is seen in so many of their songs. Southtown is one of my favorite songs ever, and I have listened to it probably over 200 times, and it was also one of the first songs I ever learned on guitar. Something about P.O.D. and their music is just special, they were never as popular as some of the bigger bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit but I think they deserved to be.

Deftones

Stephen Carpenter is one of my all time favorite guitarists. His riffs are godly, and are what drew me to the band initially. Some of my favorite songs (guitar wise) are Headup, My own Summer, Back to School, and Elite. Somehing about this band is very calmish and chill. I love getting high and blasting some Deftones, or driving around late at night and listening to these guys. These guys are special.

Static X

Static X is a unique nu metal band and they fall more on the industrial side of things, similar to Coal Chamber. Static X (along with NIN) was one of my first intoductions to industrial style music and would lead me to fall in love with bands like KMFDM later on. Wisconsin Death Trip was a staple for my senior year of highschool, and I remeber blasting it in my headphones in the back of the classroom.
